He lifted me out of the slimy pit, out of the mud and mire he set my feet on a rock and gave me a firm place to stand. I waited patiently for the Lord he turned to me and heard my cry. I consider them garbage, that I may gain Christ…įor the Spirit God gave us does not make us timid, but gives us power, love and self-discipline.
What is more, I consider everything a loss because of the surpassing worth of knowing Christ Jesus my Lord, for whose sake I have lost all things. So we say with confidence, “The Lord is my helper I will not be afraid. Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight. You will keep in perfect peace those whose minds are steadfast, because they trust in you. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus. May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as you trust in him, so that you may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit.ĭo not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. With long life I will satisfy him and show him my salvation.” He will call on me, and I will answer him I will be with him in trouble, I will deliver him and honor him. “Because he loves me,” says the Lord, “I will rescue him I will protect him, for he acknowledges my name. You will tread on the lion and the cobra you will trample the great lion and the serpent. For he will command his angels concerning you to guard you in all your ways they will lift you up in their hands, so that you will not strike your foot against a stone. If you say, “The Lord is my refuge,” and you make the Most High your dwelling, no harm will overtake you, no disaster will come near your tent. You will only observe with your eyes and see the punishment of the wicked. A thousand may fall at your side, ten thousand at your right hand, but it will not come near you.
You will not fear the terror of night, nor the arrow that flies by day, nor the pestilence that stalks in the darkness, nor the plague that destroys at midday. He will cover you with his feathers, and under his wings you will find refuge his faithfulness will be your shield and rampart. I will say of the Lord, “He is my refuge and my fortress, my God, in whom I trust.” Surely he will save you from the fowler’s snare and from the deadly pestilence. Whoever dwells in the shelter of the Most High will rest in the shadow of the Almighty. The Lord will keep you from all harm-he will watch over your life the Lord will watch over your coming and going both now and forevermore. The Lord watches over you-the Lord is your shade at your right hand the sun will not harm you by day, nor the moon by night. He will not let your foot slip-he who watches over you will not slumber indeed, he who watches over Israel will neither slumber nor sleep. I lift up my eyes to the mountains-where does my help come from? My help comes from the Lord, the Maker of heaven and earth. I consider that our present sufferings are not worth comparing with the glory that will be revealed in us. I received so many great responses, I wanted to share them with you, so we have a reference of verses to turn to during this difficult time. This week, I put out a call on Facebook, asking people for their favorite scriptures to lean on when feeling stressed or distressed.
